Hey Everyone!

It has been a while since you've seen any updates on our site! But things are changing this year!

Along with a new look, I will be posting information on a new direction for our ministry. You will be hearing alot about this in the coming weeks.

Regarding the new look, I hope you all find it more pleasing to the eye, more interesting, and also a lot more organized and easier to use.

I will try to keep up with it more with more updates, music, event updates, etc, so please check back often!

I haven't updated a post in quite sometime. Our video camera has been broken for the past few weeks so we have had some difficulty uploading sermon videos. We will do our best to work on that situation.

Hello Everyone!

I apologize for the lack of sermon videos and updates in the past couple weeks. The video camera has been broken (but is now fixed!).

In the meantime, enjoy this new video I pulled off of Godtube.

I don't know about you, but it really gets me excited about the day when we'll really get to see Jesus in his full glory. Imagine seeing him face to face! That would be insane! :D

Daniel Cho's Emotional Final Address to Impakt Cabinet 07-08!

Hmm…its 12:03…Sunday…well where will I start…oh right… Hello this is Daniel Cho your president for the 07-08 year. I’d like to start off my saying what a wonderful year it has been, getting to know each and every one of you in the Impakt and Pebbles ministries : ) I can really say that we have become one big giant family. I have seen our church grow in so many ways, and proudly I can say that many of you have been blessed with the understanding of the gravity of the Gospel and the love that Jesus Christ has placed upon us. So I sit here contemplating on what I should say or tell my fellow siblings.

The first thing that comes to mind is to love one another. This cannot be stressed further. This includes newcomers and the regulars. When you see a new brother or sister come to our church for the first time, make them feel at home! Talk to them; go eat lunch with them, do things that you would want someone to do to you if you were new to our church. Serve one another! Don’t think about your own comforts, but try to love your fellow brothers and sisters as yourself. Our Lord and Savior Christ commanded to love your neighbor as yourself, and I implore, challenge, and demand that this happen.

Secondly, I encourage each and every one of you to step up in our ministry, be proactive and helpful! We are really short staffed at LSPC, so what can you do to help? HELP!!! When you see a teacher, take the liberty of asking “is there something I can do?” Doing a simple tasks will truly take a load of the teachers and staff at our church. And on the note of stepping up in the ministry, if you have a heart of serving in leadership, praise, or things of that nature, please take initiative and go for it. Speak to the president and the vp’s and to Pastor Andrew.

And lastly…pray for the ministry every day. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for the church and the leaders in the church. Pray that Gods will be done for LSPC. Do this every day and realize that all is done through God’s hand. Recognize that we MUST DEPEND on him alone.

The son, who is in a handicapped situation, is pulled and carried by the father through these endurance challenges. Together they've participated in countless races and provide a small picture of a father's love, the same kind of love God the Father showed, and continues to show, to us.

New Sermon Video + Cabinet Dinner Meeting Information

Hello Everyone!

Here is this week's sermon video. It's a sermon Pastor Andrew prepared for a retreat that he was guest speaking at. It's out of Revelations and it discusses the lukewarm, apathetic church. Be moved!

Also, we will be having a cabinet meeting on Sunday, September 7th @ Sydney's House. The meeting will be at 7pm.

It will be potluck style. We already have some people bringing food so at this point we need:
One (1) Person to bring Dessert
One (1) Person to bring Salad
Two or Three (2-3) People to bring Pasta/Side Dishes

Remember what you bring needs to serve 10-12 people! Also, don't forget to prepare answers to the following questions (this is crucial!):

1. How you think you did in fulfilling the expectations for your role?
2. What were some difficulties you face in your position? How would
you have dealt with it differently in the future?
3. What are some advice to give to the next person so that they don't
fall into the same mistakes?
4. Is there any expectation on the job description that you think is
too overwhelming for the next year?
5. What did you learn through your experience as a cabinet member?

SUMMER RETREAT 2008 RECAP

Hey Everyone!

In case you missed out on our awesome Summer Retreat (Aug 17-20th), here is a recap for you guys, complete with awesome pictures courtesy of David Kim, Yoyo, Daniel Cho, and Joe Lee! :D

This year's theme was "Simply Pure" and our theme verse was 1 Timothy 4:12. Our flock groups had a water theme to it, so we were all assigned names of water companies. Brian Cha was Evian, Daniel Cho was Fiji, Andrew Choi had Dasani, and Alex Park's (my) team was SmartWater!

Day 1 (Sunday August 17th)
We left from church at around 2:30 or 3ish. We had to take a U-Haul truck this time around because we were riding in a school bus (not a coach bus). This was largely in an effort to lower costs of retreat since gas prices have made everything so much more expensive now.

Unfortunately, we were about an hour late in our arrival. The bus ride was fun and energetic as usual for retreat. This time around we had Josh Su and David Kim rejoining us after long respective hiatuses from the ministry, so it was a great reunion of sorts for the students and teachers.

We ate dinner promptly upon arrival because we were late. The food at retreat was pretty yummy (but gave everyone indigestion). The dorms, however, were AWESOME. Each spacious room had 2 Bunk beds, 1 Queen size bed, 1 cot, and plenty of room for people to sleep on the ground. They also had 2 sinks, 1 shower, and 1 toilet to every room with nice running water. Many people accurately described it as a "hotel-like" experience. Indeed we had many luxuries and amenities at our disposal.

Day 2 (Monday August 18th)
Out first full day of retreat started with a 6:30 am wake up, followed by devotions at 7:00am. Breakfast was usually at 8:00 (though usually a little earlier) and service usually began around 9:00 am. Speaking of service, we had an AWESOME guest speaker this time around. His name is David Son and he is a seminary school friend of Pastor Andrew.

He had a ghetto style to him, evident in his speech and dress. He hails originally from the Bay Area (San Fransisco) and is also very young, which was good because we could easily relate to him as high school and junior high students

After our awesome outdoor services, which, by the way, had great praise band music (the old praise band was reunited again with David Kim at lead vocals, Richard Kim electric guitar, Joe Lee at Bass/Supporting Vocals, and Josh Su on the drums), we usually skipped right along to bible study in our respective groups.

Lunch was at 12:30, followed by Outdoor Activities. The retreat site had a paintball area, rifle range, basketball court, swimming pool + slide, ping pong tables, large open field, archery range, and volleyball court. We were free to do whatever we wanted at this time.

This was followed by an additional hour of free time before we broke into our skit groups.

Dinner was usually at around 5:30pm, followed by Indoor Activities (held outside) which consisted of an egg-tube game, seaweed-facesticking game, and a kimchi eating relay race.

Service came around at 830pm, followed by groups/prayer time. For our bible study/prayer/devotion groups, we had two awesome new teachers! Hannah Lee and Hanna Chang ( sorry teacher Hannah, I couldn't find a picture of you! :[ )

Day 3 (Tuesday August 19th)
The schedule for our third day was very similar to our second day except that we had video scavenger activities and our skit presentations. Here are some pictures from those activities!

We also had a very late service (11:30pm) and an even later bonfire. Most of us slept later than 2am! Here are some pictures of the bonfire and our smoremaking skills.

Day 4 (Wednesday August 20th)
This day came so quickly! Too quick for most people (especially teacher Hannah Lee).

We got to wake up at 8:00am and some of us woke up early enough for the 8:30 breakfast. We did not have our scheduled Bible Quiz but instead revealed the point totals. SmartWater came in 4th, Evian in 3rd, and if I remember correctly, Fiji placed 2nd and Dasani 1st!

This year we had individual prizes on top of team prizes (which were also very cool). One boy and one girl were awarded Apple Ipod Shuffles based on a raffle system.

We then took alot of group pictures with our bible study teachers, skit groups, leader pictures, staff pictures, etc! There's tons of em on facebook so check them out as well.

Our bus ran a little late after all our activities closed so we all sat around and played cards or chatted. Our bus driver (who looked a little bit like Michael Jackson), finally came and we descended from our beloved Palomar home.

The bus ride home was extremely quiet because almost everyone went into hibernation. Here are some beautiful pictures of Josh, and JiHo in action.

News + Website Updates + Bonfire Recap + Sermon Video

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since we've had an update. This is mostly because the video camera has been problematic. We've got it to work and this week's video will be up shortly.

Anyway, I've finally gotten around to updating some things around the site:

1) New Song!
The song is called "From the Inside Out" and it is by Hillsong United. It is by far one of my favorite songs because the lyrics are so powerful. Please take some time to listen! Also, for future reference, if there is ever a song you guys would like to see/hear on the site, please let me know via the chatbox and I will go ahead and see what I can do!

2) Ad Dollars Updated!
We're just about closing in on the $50 mark! Keep on clicking guys! :D

3) New Pictures + Bonfire Update
Hhere's a small update on that in case you missed it!

We met at church around 3pm, broke into different groups and cars. Joe and PA went to the beach to claim a spot. Brian and Daniel drove their cars and took several of us (janet, myself, andrew choi, diane, and others) to go shopping for food at Food 4 Less. This is where the fiasco occured.

With a limited amount of money, we scoured the store for the necessary items. First we decided to get sandwiches because they would be easier to deal with. Then, upon news that there were no open fire pits and Daniel's discovery of a cheap BBQ grill, we switched to hamburgers and hot dogs. We scrambled to get the cheapest on everything and the entire process was very hectic and cost us over an hour and a half of time. We got to the beach at around 5, only to find that the parking lot where Joe and PA had parked and settled down by was full and closed. Police directed us away to another parking lot. Joe and PA picked up their things and drove over to our lot, from where we mobilized onto beach.

Just as we setup and got settled down, a lifeguard informed us that the section of the beach we were on was not open to fires and grills. We then had to gather everything, move back up to the parking lot and load up the cars. We then moved to the part of the beach where we could have fires, only to find that parking was hard to come by (an understatement). Joe bumped another car several times while trying to parallel park into a tiny spot. He pulled it off but in the end, we moved to a different parking lot anyway.

After a long hour or so of parking and reparking, we got settled down and immediately began to grill (it was approaching 7pm by this time) only to find that our inexpensive grill kit would not catch fire. We ended up making Survivor-style grills on top of coals on the sand, much to the dismay of people who got sand on their hot dogs and hamburgers.

In the end, everyone was laughing and had a great time. Despite the difficulty and lack of organization in the beginning, God provided for us in the end. He provided even more than we bargained for. Not only did we have food in our stomachs and a good times to remember, he taught the leaders important lessons and gave us an experience that we will likely not forget for years to come. As Daniel Cho described it, it was "the Best Worst Bonfire ever".

I also have some updates for the Cabinet Members from PA if you didn't already read it in your email.

"Hello Cabinet Members,

remember to sign up for retreat as soon as possible.

i know a lot of you guys have summer school. but so do i. i have a
final during retreat but i'm taking it after the retreat. so i'm sure
you can talk to your teacher and find a way to still go to retreat.
tell them you have to go for religious purposes, and they usually let
you go. i have done this in the past and they cannot discriminate or
grade you down for religious purposes.

august 3rd is when the LATE registration starts...meaning i need the forms and checks a WEEK before august 3rd. that gives you two weeks.

also, it seems like many of you guys have been MIA on fridays and
sundays. please remember about keeping each other accountable to be involved and active. Especially since we are combined with Pebbles, make the extra effort to get to know them and interact with them. as busy as you guys are, i know you arent studying ALL the time. make some time to grow relationships. its the only thing that will matter.

spread the word about retreat. we have great games, great t shirts, and a great preacher lined up. also all the em staff will be there including josh and david kim.

Also, the janitor told me that some of you guys left trash in the van with leftover fries and food. this must NEVER happen again. We need to respect the resources church provides, and to trash the van will not
only take away our privelage from usuing the van, but it is disrepectful. Also, our rooms and em room is always left with trash. you guys need to clean up for yourselves, or clean up other people's mess if you see it. Pastor Young wanted to remind you guys to keep our place of worship clean for the Lord. Please show respect and do not leave things trashed, or unlocked.

Secondly, it seems as if everybody is starting to call mePANDREW...be careful because this is my warning.next time there will be consequences. the issue is not the "label" but the tone that it sends to the other students. remember, especially because we are combined with pebbles to be the proper example for the rest of the ministry. i do not want any of the students (especially pebbles)
becoming lax with obedience to the leadership. this not only includes myself, but for all the staff members. people have been remarking to me that they notice a lack of respect between the students and the staff members (i.e. joe, richard, jane, myself.) and it is my fault for not enforcing it. but i will enforce it heavily especially on you guys. be careful with your tone to me, joe, richard, and other older members of our church. theres always a time/place to joke around, but it is def not during/around worship or in front of the younger students. hope you guys understand...as much fun as i have with you guys, there needs to be accountability and respect between the members and their leaders. please do not be careless with your tongue because there are consequences. be wary of your environment always.

Important Announcements + Sermon Video

Hey Everyone,

I've got a few important reminders, updates, and announcements.

First of all, Daniel hasn't received any money for Young's present. He spent $200 of his own money getting it thinking that people would pay him back at church but no one has done so (except Janet and myself). So please make sure to get Daniel your contribution to Young's present so he is not completely broke. :D It would be nice if the Cabinet could help with the collection of this money.

Additionally, for the many of you that signed up for VBS, there is an important meeting this Sunday at 12:30pm in the Children's Room. Pastor Mike sent out an email earlier today and it went a little something like this,

"Hello Teachers, Leaders, and TAs!

I just wanted to let all of you guys know that we'll be having a VBS Leadership Meeting this coming Sunday at 12:30 pm in the Children's Chapel.

I spoke with Monica Han, Susanna Jung, Debbie Lee, Eunice Park, and Koko Mizushima, so they know about it already. I left voicemail messages for all the other TAs, so hopefully they will get them. The only TA I did not get in touch with was Hannah Kim (her number was wrong) so hopefully she'll get this email. TAs, let all your friends who signed up for VBS know about this Saturday's leadership meeting!

Also for the TAs, start thinking about where you would like to serve. Here are some specific areas:
- Praise Team
- Crafts
- Games
- Decorations
- Set-Up / Clean-Up Team

Thirdly, it is my understanding that there is a Mexico Missions Testimony Service this Friday in the Main Chapel (combined with the Adults). If you went to Mexico you should go and give your testimony. Pastor Andrew tells me we will be having Bible Study as well so do your best to make it out this Friday!

Fourth, our website generated about $130 in just a few months! Great job everyone! We will be putting this money into the EM/Impakt Missions Account for future trips. Keep it up everyone.

Fifth, Summer Retreat registration has begun! Early registration is $150 (Before August 3rd) and Late Registration is $180 (After August 3rd). Register at church with Pastor Andrew!

And last but not least, Sunday's sermon video. This week focuses on the temple clearing/cleansing episode at the Court of the Gentiles.

Make sure you all come out this Friday for the Graduation/Young's Good Bye Party. We will be celebrating for the junior high and high school grads as well as for Young's going-away. :(

Also, we would really like it if you could bring some money to chip in for Young's bye-bye present. Bring as much as you feel you would like to give to Young as thanks for all the love and dedication he has shown you over years. Thanks for all the rides, all the laughs, all the hugs, and all the love! Give what you can and make him really happy as he leaves LSPC. We can do it!

And also, if you have any responsibilities for the planning of the parties, please make sure you do what you gotta do. :D

Additionally, for those of you guys who are going to Mexico for Missions (myself included), make sure you guys come out this Saturday for a mandatory training/meeting. It's our last one so it's SUPER important. I believe it will be at 2pm so make sure you are there.

Lastly, the new EM Pastor (Pastor Mike), says he will be needing alot of volunteers for VBS towards the end of July/ beginning of August so heads up for that!

Mercy Ministries: May 'Midnight Mission' Trip

Hey Everyone,

Just got back from serving at the Midnight Mission in Downtown LA (by Skid Row) with Pastor Andrew, Sydney, Janet, and Helen. It was a very good experience and all of us had a great time. *sorry no pictures!*

Basically, we met at church at around 2:30 and took the church van (much to the dissapointment of the girls) and headed over to the facility. We got there early and had a chance to take a tour and check it out. They are a completely independent facility and everything is fairly nice and new.

After the tour we put on our hairnets, gloves, and aprons on and began to help out at the food line. We saw all kinds of people of different ages and races all in the same homeless situation.

Some openly expressed thanks to us for the food we served while others were a bit less grateful (at least outwardly), but regardless, I think our group got alot more out of the humbling experience than they (the homeless) did from a free meal.

We also witnessed the powerful testimony of our Robert Jones who talked about his experience losing his family,wife, and life to crack cocaine and was saved by the grace of God and had ever since been serving at the shelter.

Afterwards, we headed over to K-Town and got some good ol' Korean cookin' at the Elephant Restaurant. The whole trip was pretty fun, especially as I sat quietly in the back observing Pastor Andrew getting pestered by the girls for his driving skills (or lack thereof).

Hopefully we can do this at least once a month. It was a great experience.

Hey Impakt!

I have two very great sermon videos for you all today! The first is an older one that I watched a while back but recently re-discovered. It's an excellent sermon that could change your life; it definitely changed mine.

The second is Pastor Andrew's sermon from the book of Mark. This is from this past Sunday's service. A noticeably different style from Paul Washer ;)

Oh and by the way, if you haven't already noticed (I suppose it's hard not to notice it), I put a music player on the site! It's up on the top and you can control play/pause/volume. I'll try and change the songs every week or two. ;D

Additionally, I've added a Chatbox so we could all talk to each other, comment on the site/sermons/features, and communicate about this and that. Hopefully we can get a nice conversation going on there and I can get some constructive criticism on the website.

Study hard for those AP tests, it'll all be over soon. :]

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the recent lack of updates and major laggage! I've had my hands really tied up. I just got back from a 6-day trip up in Northern California and this google-video uploading process has really been giving me some difficulty.

Just so everyone knows, it takes usually 45 or so minutes to upload the video, I edit it for 5-10 minutes. Then I render/save, which takes upwards of 2 hours.

Then, if I'm lucky, I can upload it to GoogleVideo, which takes 3+ hours on average.

Once uploaded, it takes several more hours to process before its ready to be uploaded on to the website. It's a very time consuming process but because of the length of these videos, there's not much of a way around it. I'll do my best though!

This is the sermon video from when we had the guest speaker from South Africa.

Thanks everyone for putting up with this. :( It'll get better soon, I promise.

China Missions Update!

Happy New Year! It's been quite a while since I have updated. I apologize. My computer has completely broken recently and I haven't been able to get around to updating. Sorry!

Anyway, in case you haven't received the emails, I thought I'd share the email updates that the China Missions Team has been sending out. There are two:

Update 1:

Hey Supporters,

Greetings from Shanghai! Happy New Year! Just wanted to let you guys know that all of us have arrived safely and have been busy the minute we landed. Here is a list of things we have accomplished so far:

Dinner with 30 locals in a get together at David’s house.
Played soccer and basketball with the locals and had opportunities to share.
Ate duk gook with David’s team for New Year’s.
Shared with multiple locals and plan on setting up future appointments for follow up.

We are still adjusting to the time change and we are in need of fighting our physical weaknesses. However, overall we have had much interaction with the local people and have seen many opportunities for sharing. Here are some PR’s:

Physical strength and tiredness.
Tomorrow we will be in front of a couple hundred students to share about ourselves. Pr for opportunities for relationships.
Dad to continue to grow the team through this trip.

The team wanted to thank everybody who has been supporting us in pr’ing. The written encouragements have been a great blessing the team and we thank Dad for all He has been doing through you guys. We will update you later in the week with more updates about the min. here in Shanghai.

Update 2:

Hello Supporters!

This week has been very busy and very fruitful. We have shared with many people and had so many opportunities. There have been people coming to faith and we have interacted with around 300 people and personally shared with about 100 people. As you can see Dad has been moving very mightily.

Min. have involved contact EV at the campus, setting up dinners, setting up Matthew parties, talking in classrooms, and continual interaction with the good news. Good News training back in the states have been bringing forth fruits here in Shanghai.

We have also been doing morning devotionals and going through Piper’s book, Let the Nations be Glad! We have really been challenged to have a proper for Dad’s glory and compassion for the lost. The team has grown so much over the week. I have seen how they were timid to being such bold EV’s. I’m pr’ing for you guys, especially Pebbles and Impakt. We are excited to come back and share our many stories and start training you guys to share your faith as well!

Some Pr’s for the group:

Focus to finish the last leg of the trip strong.
Safety to Korea and back home.
Josh’s ankle (hurt and limping)
Continued passion for Dad’s glory and compassion for lost back in the States.

Here is Pastor Andrew's most recent sermon. In my opinion, this is the most powerful and passionate sermon Pastor Andrew has delivered thus far. :) So listen closely.

If you guys missed the announcement, our practices are going to be starting pretty soon for the Winter Presentation. Here are the dates for our practices:

November 30th
December 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 22nd

The 21st and 22nd will be full dress rehearsals. The 23rd will be an audition in front of the Elders/Pastors. Finally, we'll be presenting on the 24th!

We need you guys to do your best to make all the practices and try hard.

Hey Guys!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I was out of town last week. :D

So yeah, no sermon video but we do have the Praise Night Video coming soon, probably sometime tomorrow.

In the meantime, make sure you guys are dressing up formally tomorrow because it's combined service in the Main Sanctuary for Thanksgiving Service. Guys wear suits if possible, girls I'm not sure what to tell you. :D

Anyway, this Friday we are also having a potluck dinner with broomballing immediately afterwards. Come to church at 5pm and make sure to wear tennis shoes!
